Class of 2025

Laura Adachi was an incredible advocate for me during my college application process. She was super communicative and always made time to talk when needed. I truly appreciate her understanding and patience, making a stressful time so much easier. Talking to Laura was always refreshing and instilled a sense of excitement in me about the college process. Laura was super dedicated to helping me get organized and stay on top of deadlines and cheered me on the whole time. I am so grateful to her for all of her help and I do believe that I would not have been as successful without her support and guidance.

Seneca, Tulane University, Class of 2029

When I went to Laura for help in my application writing process, she was instantly welcoming, supportive, and trustworthy. Working with Laura, I felt completely comfortable asking questions, being honest and vulnerable, and taking risks. Not only did Laura help me become more confident in my writing and brainstorming, but I valued how she always encouraged me to stick to my own gut and my own values no matter what. In such a stressful time, Laura was a truly impactful source of support.

Ms. Laura Adachi has serious talent and keen vision when it comes to advising students and families about college admissions. Her approach to advising is effective and positive for all. In equal parts Laura functioned as an expert, educator, guidance counselor, consultant, and cheerleader that taught us content and process, sifted through emotions to reach ground truth, translated the arcane, mirrored realities (not an easy feat), and celebrated successes - all at the right time. From her comprehensive intake to the debriefs after our daughter was accepted to her college of choice with merit scholarship, Laura was with us all the way. She approaches students and parents together, both separately and as a unit, and accounted for individual and group needs; this made her particularly effective, as each child-patent partnership and family situation are unique. She paid careful attention to the details of our situation, advocated for achieving the right fit, and helped us balance goals with economics/costs. Her high emotional intelligence, excellent communication skills, research knowledge-how, and extensive experiences advising students and their families on the college admissions process and selecting the right college for them make her a bona fide college admissions ninja. We are grateful to have had the chance to have Laura’s counsel and know that our daughter’s future - and any teen lucky enough to have her on their team - is more secure and bright because of her.

We are so grateful we found Laura to help with our oldest child’s college search & application process.  My son was intimidated, and felt immediately less pressure after his first session with Laura. She has a great approach & our somewhat shy son felt much more relaxed & confident. It was helpful for us as parents to have someone with experience in the process work directly with our son, providing feedback on his essay, helping him with filling out applications and selecting schools to apply to. And all of this for very very reasonable fees - we had been turned off by stories of people paying exorbitant fees and assuming an inappropriate level of influence. Laura helped our son stay on schedule and ultimately do very well in the application process. Now the hard part will be the decision of which school to attend!

I had the privilege of working with Laura Adachi throughout my college application process. From helping me curate a college list to overcoming writer’s block in the midst of my essay writing, her valuable insights provided me with the direction and motivation I needed. Laura was a knowledgeable counselor and cheerleader whose supportive demeanor helped ease the stress of the chaotic college process!

Sonya, USC Class of 2027

“As a senior applying to colleges for the first time, I don’t know how I could do it without Laura. I am always so incredibly comfortable asking questions and for feedback and always feel confident that everything is going to be okay with her help. She guided me through the entire application process, giving me meaningful feedback on my writing, organizing my next steps as well as deadlines, and overall just went above and beyond to help me in any way possible. I was accepted to all nine of my colleges including my number one choice! I truly can not thank her enough for all that she has done and continues to do for me, and I feel so lucky to have had the opportunity to be supported by Laura.”

Skylar, Macalester College Class of 2028

“Laura helped guide my son through the college admissions process from preparing a college list to helping him edit his essays. Laura was there to cheer for the wins and talk me through the stressful days. When I need parenting or education advice for one of my three teens, Laura is the first person I call. Not only is she a treasure trove of information, and highly organized, but she also easily relates to teens, as she is a mom herself.  This makes her approachable and easy to talk to.”

“Laura has a kind and calming energy. This engenders trust and removes the anxiety that can often be present when high schoolers are thinking about and planning for college.  As a parent I appreciate her vast knowledge and expertise about so many schools and the best strategies for applying. She was great about helping my teen stay on task and meet deadlines in a way that wasn’t heavy handed or stressful. My daughter felt very supported throughout the whole process including feedback on her essays and post-application letter writing to her #1 college choice for which she was originally waitlisted (and ultimately got accepted in large thanks to Laura’s advice). Mostly I value that Laura is keenly focused on uncovering the uniqueness of the person she is working with. She is inspired to learn what setting will make them happy.  Laura understands it’s not about getting into the “best” school; rather, it's about finding the best fit.”
